DHX Announces Update to its Normal Course Issuer Bid

HALIFAX, Sept. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - DHX Media ("DHX" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: DHXM; TSX: DHX.A, DHX.B), a key player internationally in the creation of content for families and children, announces today that the Toronto Stock Exchange (the "TSX") has accepted the Company's notice of intention to make a normal course issuer bid (the "Bid") to purchase up to an aggregate of 8,207,887 common voting shares and variable voting shares (the "Shares"), representing 10 per cent of the public float of 82,078,870 Shares as of September 25, 2015. The Company presently has a total of 123,989,899 Shares outstanding. The Bid will be made in accordance with the applicable rules and policies of the TSX and the NASDAQ Global Select Market ("NASDAQ") as well as any applicable Canadian and U.S. securities laws.

In accordance with TSX rules, any daily purchases (other than pursuant to a block purchase exception) on the TSX under the Bid are limited to a maximum of 84,544 Shares, which represents 25% of the average daily trading volume on the TSX for the past six months. Daily purchases (other than pursuant to a block purchase exception) on the NASDAQ under the Bid are limited to 25% of the average daily trading volume for the preceding four weeks. All Shares purchased by the Company under the Bid will be cancelled.

The Bid will commence on October 5, 2015 with expiry to occur no later than October 4, 2016, or until such earlier time as the Bid is completed or terminated at the option of DHX, observing the purchasing restrictions during 'black out' or 'close' periods pursuant to the Company's Insider Trading Policy. Any Shares purchased by DHX pursuant to the Bid will be acquired on the open market through the facilities of the TSX or the NASDAQ at the market price at the time of such transaction. The Bid will be funded from the Company's existing cash resources.

DHX is pursuing the Bid because it believes that, from time to time, the Shares may trade in price ranges which do not adequately reflect their value and in such circumstances acquiring Shares represents a desirable use of the Company's available funds. Any such acquisitions, if made, would reduce the number of outstanding Shares of the Company and consequently may result in improved earnings per Share.

IMAX China today determined the offer price of HK$31.0 (US$4.0) per share for the Offering of 62,000,000 shares (before the over-allotment option) that was announced on September 22, 2015. IMAX China is expected to issue 17,825,000 new shares and a number of selling shareholders, including a wholly owned subsidiary of IMAX Corporation, are expected to sell a total of 44,175,000 sale shares. The 62,000,000 shares represent approximately 17.4% of the enlarged issued share capital of IMAX China. IMAX China is expected to receive net proceeds of approximately HK$450.8 million (US$58.2 million), after deducting commissions in connection with the Offering. Ilaiyaraaja has composed original songs and background score for a world record of over 1,000 Indian language films. Ilaiyaraaja has also worked as a singer, conductor, songwriter, and instrumentalist, and has primarily worked in South Indian Cinema since the late 1970s. He has won four Indian National film awards for his music, and is the first Indian to compose a full symphony.

In addition to a small production crew and micro budget methodology, the film stands out with the emotional connection between the music and the scenes. According to director, writer, editor, and producer Julian Karikalan who funded the movie himself, Ilaiyaraaja completed the entire background score in just five days. Each composition perfectly highlights the emotion and subtext of the scenes. In fact, Julian says the composer was able to write the music spontaneously as he was watching the movie. Being a film set in contemporary Australia, Ilaiyaraaja wanted an Australian singer to render the voice for his songs. Australian singer Rachael Leahcar, signed with Universal music, got the opportunity to lend her voice to Ilaiyaraaja's first English song for an English film.

The script has received much praise so far. Richard Walter, Chairman of the University of California, Los Angeles graduate program in Screenwriting, said, "Dear Julian, I was going to set the script aside until I had a little more time available but took a look at the first few pages and got caught up in it and read right through, no small testimony to your skill. You ask whether or not 'this is something that the western audience would relate to' given its cross-cultural aspects. My view is that there are only two kinds of movies: not cross-cultural romances and others but good movies and bad movies. Yours is clearly in the former category, and I say: Congratulations."

Love and Love Only follows the story of Kris, a boy from a wealthy Indian family who goes to Australia as an international student. While there, he meets Stacey, a school drop-out with a difficult family life. Family oriented vs. individualistic culture is a prevalent theme in this love story. The film deals with the universality of human emotions and love, despite the cultural differences. It is a mainstream romance film for mainstream audiences spanning different cultures.

The movie premiered at the San Francisco Global Movie Festival in August, 2015. It was filmed in and around Sydney, Australia and at the University of Wollongong. A scene at the Sydney Murugan Temple was shot from outside the building while the actors were performing inside, as cameras were not allowed inside. Most of the actors are newcomers to film, but are well experienced in theater. In addition to a minimal crew (never more than 10 people in a day), the female lead was chosen from a list of extras, prepared for the role, and according to the director, has surprised many with her performance. The male lead is played by Rohit Kalia, who was Mr. India Australia, in 2014.

Large orchestral arrangements integrate electric guitars, keyboards, synthesizers, violins, cellos, violas, base and flute. He has also used traditional Indian instruments like the Veena, Nadaswaram, and Thavil. The composer's trademark style helps accentuate the cross-cultural theme of the movie.

(Nasdaq: SBGI) ("Sinclair") announced today the creation of a news segment called Connect to Congress, a multimedia initiative that enables Members of Congress in Sinclair news markets to communicate with their constituents on a regular basis. Combining broadcast, internet, and social media technologies, Connect to Congress offers Sinclair's local market viewers new ways to get answers to questions about what matters most to them at home.

Connect to Congress was created by Scott Livingston, VP of News for Sinclair, who is using Sinclair's presence in Washington, D.C., through its acquisition of ABC affiliate WJLA last year, to create a more regular dialogue between viewers in local markets nationwide and their Members of Congress. The first step in this plan was establishing a national bureau on Capitol Hill. "When Congress is in session, we have cameras set up weekly in the Rotunda, connected via remote to our local stations. Local anchors conduct the interviews about the key issues constituents and lawmakers are passionate about and not just topics that everyone else is covering," said Colleen Wordock, Sinclair's Capitol Hill Bureau Chief.

"For many years, national cable news channels have been viewed as the prime media outlet for Members of Congress," said Livingston. "Not only are a select few Members ever invited onto those channels, but the audiences on those channels are a small fraction of our local newscast audiences." And the ratings bear that out. According to Nielsen data, Sinclair's audiences during local newscasts exceed those of cable news by orders of magnitude during the same periods, often four times the audience of the top cable news channels, and often over 100 times the niche cable news channels. "When Members see this data, they are floored and realize that they need to be on local broadcast TV more often. Instead of making Members come to our stations when they are in-district, we are bringing our local TV stations to them in D.C. That is what Connect to Congress is all about."

ILCs Open Doors To Independence For Californians With Spinal Cord Injuries

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- With nearly 300,000 Americans living with spinal cord injuries (SCIs) and the number of new SCIs estimated to reach 12,500 annually, the role of Independent Living Centers (ILCs) like Southern California Resource Services for Independent Living (SCRS-IL) is increasingly important. SCRS-IL is one of 28 ILCs in California opening doors to independence for individuals with SCIs by providing a range of programs and services, notably assistive technology services and education.

"In serving people with SCIs, staff members reflect our philosophy of supporting persons with disabilities to transform their lives by making their own choices on how they live, work and participate in their communities," noted Interim SCRS-IL's Executive Director Mario Galdamez. "The programs and services we offer are designed to educate and increase the skill levels of individuals living with disabilities."

Through assistive technology (AT) services, SCRS-IL offers individuals with SCIs the opportunity to access technology as one means to living independently. AT includes a broad range of devices such as scooters and wheelchairs, remote controls, accessible keyboards and communication devices or more complex items such as durable medical equipment and home modifications. When combined with training, individuals learn how to use the equipment and become more self-sufficient.

SCRS-IL also conducts monthly disability-related presentations and workshops, tailored for SCIs at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center (Rancho) in Downey, CA. One such workshop is the drum circle, designed to enhance brain activity for spinal cord repair and improve sensations and movement for individuals with SCIs. By partnering with Rancho's occupational and physical therapy staff, SCRS-IL can increase the level of resources and services provided to individuals with SCIs and their families. Additionally, SCRS-IL participates in Rancho's annual Spinal Injury Games that provide individuals with SCIs an opportunity to engage in a variety of wheelchair sports.

"One of our consumers, who is participating in this year's Spinal Injury Games in October, came to us in 2013" said Ignacio Gonzalez, SCRS-IL's Service Coordinator/Independent Living Advocate. "He sought help from us on his application process for the position of Wellness Ally at Rancho, where he actively participated in rehab programs and the SCI support group for men. We helped him develop a résumé and personal reference page, which contributed to his landing the job. He has mentioned that both SCRS-IL and Rancho are 'amazing' and have 'changed his life.'"

In addition to the above programs and services, SCRS-IL continues tackling the obstacles of a lack of funding for equipment and devices as well as inaccessible and unaffordable housing. SCRS-IL is breaking down barriers to Independent Living by creating a documentary film to educate stakeholders on the critical need to prioritize accessible sidewalks and curb cuts in several neighborhoods of Los Angeles County. Additionally, SCRS-IL supported the inclusion of Hector Ochoa as a new commissioner on the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities who will be the leading voice in advocating for all persons with disabilities, not limited to the SCRS-IL catchment area.

#Down2Adopt launches with a series of video pet biographies featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, MTV2's Charlamagne Tha God and MTV2's Carly Aquilino comically narrating stories of how some dogs and cats found themselves in shelters. It will be all paws on deck when the #Down2Adopt pet bios premiere during an all new episode of MTV2's "Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne" tonight, Wednesday, September 30, at 11pm ET. Charlamagne and guests including Vinny Guadagnino will share why they're down to adopt shelter pets and will hang with Charm, an adoptable puppy from St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey.

Each year 6 to 8 million dogs and cats find themselves in shelters, but only half will be adopted.
