'SHARK TANK' Season-to-date Investment Offers Now Total Over $2.9 Million

'SHARK TANK' Season-to-date Investment Offers Now Total Over $2.9 Million

"Shark Tank" Was #1 Among Adults 18-34

CULVER CITY, Calif., April 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- During last Friday's episode of Sony Pictures Television's hit ABC reality series, SHARK TANK, the Tank heated up with another "made in the USA" debate when a husband and wife team from Pasadena, CA insisted that their sippy cups be made stateside. Another recurring theme of the night concerned the lengths entrepreneurs are willing to take to start a business, when the Sharks met a mom who sold her engagement ring to fund her innovative three-in-one nail polish product.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20080424/LATH509LOGO)

After a battle between venture capitalist Kevin O'Leary and guest Shark and prolific inventor of retail products Lori Greiner, entrepreneur Barbara Lampugnale, a mother of six girls from West Hartford, CT, received an offer from Greiner for $50,000 in exchange for 40% of Lampugnale's unique nail polish business, Nailpak. Additionally, after insisting that their unique sippy cups, Lollacup, be manufactured in the USA to maintain quality, Mark and Hanna Lim from Pasadena, CA, received an offer from billionaire Mark Cuban and technology innovator Robert Herjavec for $100,000 in exchange for 40% of their business.

Additionally, in a follow-up story, Talbott Teas' Shane Talbott and Steven Nakisher from Chicago, IL, talked about the deal they secured with Jamba Juice following their appearance on SHARK TANK earlier this season.

During the 8PM hour, SHARK TANK led the competition by double-digit percentages in Adults 18-34 and was #1 with Women 18-49. Continuing to grow year to year, SHARK TANK was up 17% in total viewers as well as with Adults 18-49.

Entrepreneurs who were unable to convince the Sharks to part with their money included a husband and wife team from Gardiner, NY, who tried to convince the Sharks that they had the next big thing in women's accessories; and two hockey moms from Finleyville, PA, who pitched their homegrown business of tank tops with interchangeable straps.

Tune in to ABC on Friday, May 4 at 8 PM ET/PT when investors Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O'Leary, Robert Herjavec and Daymond John as they face a new round of entrepreneurs including a man from Buena Park, CA, who tries to convince the Sharks that there is a market for a custom made air mattress that fits in the back of a pickup truck; the inventor of Rollerblades from Waconia, MN, who hopes to get investment money to put toward his newest invention, an elevated mono-rail bike system; a businesswoman from Rochester, NY, who tries to strike a deal for her innovative shoe accessories that can turn any shoe into a boot; and a fashion designer from Dallas, TX, has over a billion reasons the Sharks should see the value in his customized cruiser bikes that can be designed on an interactive website. Additionally, there is a follow-up on Shelly Ehler from Ladera Ranch, CA, and her ShowNo, a unique towel design that provides coverage when changing out of a swimsuit in public places, which Lori Greiner invested in earlier this season.

About SHARK TANK
The Sharks are: billionaire Mark Cuban, owner and chairman of HDNet and outspoken owner of the 2011 NBA championship Dallas Mavericks; real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran; "Queen of QVC" Lori Greiner; technology innovator Robert Herjavec; fashion and branding expert Daymond John and venture capitalist Kevin O'Leary. SHARK TANK airs Fridays at 8PM on ABC.

The panel of five Sharks hears pitches of the best business and product ideas from some of America's brightest entrepreneurs. When the Sharks hear a great idea, they're ready to fight each other for a piece of it. If and when the Sharks are confronted with a really top-notch idea, and more than one of them wants to sink their teeth into it, a war between them can erupt.

Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Phil Gurin are the executive producers of SHARK TANK, based on the Japanese "Dragons' Den" format created by Nippon Television Network Corporation. The episode is directed by Ken Fuchs and Alan Carter. The series is from Sony Pictures Television.

The Beatles' Restored Yellow Submarine Feature Film Set For Theatrical Release In May

Once upon a time...or maybe twice...there was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland...

LOS ANGELES, April 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Beatles' classic 1968 animated feature film, Yellow Submarine, has been digitally restored and will be presented on the big screen in select theaters across the United States in May. EMI and Apple Corps Ltd. have teamed with D&E Entertainment (www.DandEentertainment.com) to give Beatles fans of all ages the opportunity to come together and share in this visually stunning movie and soundtrack. On May 5 at the famed Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City, Yellow Submarine will start its theatrical campaign with an 8pm screening.

Currently out of print, the film has been restored in 4K digital resolution for the first time by Paul Rutan Jr. and his team of specialists at Triage Motion Picture Services and Eque Inc. Due to the delicate nature of the hand-drawn original artwork, no automated software was used in the digital clean-up of the film's restored photochemical elements. This was all done by hand, frame by frame. The restored film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 5 (June 4 internationally), and the film's songtrack album will be reissued on CD on the same date.

Yellow Submarine aficionado John Lasseter (Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios) wrote in his essay for the DVD and Blu-ray packages, "As a fan of animation and as a filmmaker, I tip my hat to the artists of Yellow Submarine, whose revolutionary work helped pave the way for the fantastically diverse world of animation that we all enjoy today."

"We are ecstatic and honored to have been selected and entrusted to give Yellow Submarine a theatrical campaign," stated Evan Saxon and Doug Kluthe from D&E Entertainment. "We're setting up matinee screenings so parents can share with their children as well as evening screenings for all to enjoy. The digital cinema presentation will be the absolute best viewing experience and representation of the hard work put into the film."

Yellow Submarine's confirmed theatrical screening dates, cities and theaters have been posted at www.facebook.com/YellowSubmarineTheMovie and www.YellowSubmarineTheMovie.com.

Directed by George Dunning, and written by Lee Minoff, Al Brodax, Jack Mendelsohn and Erich Segal, Yellow Submarine began its voyage to the screen when Brodax, who had previously produced nearly 40 episodes of ABC's animated Beatles TV series, approached The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein with a unique vision for a full-length animated feature.

Yellow Submarine, based upon a song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, is a fantastic tale brimming with peace, love, and hope, propelled by Beatles songs, including "Eleanor Rigby," "When I'm Sixty-Four," "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," "All You Need Is Love," and "It's All Too Much." When the film debuted in 1968, it was instantly recognized as a landmark achievement, revolutionizing a genre by integrating the freestyle approach of the era with innovative animation techniques.

Inspired by the generation's new trends in art, the film resides with the dazzling Pop Art styles of Andy Warhol, Martin Sharp, Alan Aldridge and Peter Blake. With art direction and production design by Heinz Edelmann, Yellow Submarine is a classic of animated cinema, featuring the creative work of animation directors Robert Balser and Jack Stokes with a team of animators and technical artists.

"I thought from the very beginning that the film should be a series of interconnected shorts," remembered Edelmann. "The style should vary every five minutes or so to keep the interest going until the end." These styles included melding live-action photography with animation, 3-dimensional sequences and kaleidoscopic "rotoscoping" where film is traced frame by frame into drawings. The entire process took nearly two years, 14 different scripts, 40 animators and 140 technical artists, ultimately producing a groundbreaking triumph of animation.

Yellow Submarine synopsis:
Once upon a time... or maybe twice, there was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland, a place where happiness and music reigned supreme. But all that was threatened when the terrible Blue Meanies declared war and sent in their army led by a menacing Flying Glove to destroy all that was good. Enter John, Paul, George and Ringo to save the day! Armed with little more than their humor, songs, and of course, their yellow submarine, The Beatles tackle the rough seas ahead in an effort to bring down the evil forces of bluedom.

Jewish American Heritage Month Kicks Off May 1, 2012

Jewish American Heritage Month Kicks Off May 1, 2012

CINCINNATI, April 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), a national commemoration of the contributions that Jewish Americans have made to the fabric of American history, culture, and society, announces expanded plans for its 2012 celebration. The main priority of JAHM, observed annually in May, is to raise the national consciousness regarding contributions by Jewish Americans to our country's heritage through a variety of events and programs nationwide. JAHM's objective is to highlight history and culture across all 50 states.

In his proclamation of April 30, 2010, President Barack Obama declared: "As leaders in every facet of American life ... Jewish Americans have shaped our Nation and helped steer the course of our history." The first-ever White House reception in honor of JAHM was hosted by the President and First Lady Michelle Obama on May 27, 2010. The President has supported JAHM annually through events and proclamations. It was President George W. Bush who declared in 2006 that May would be Jewish American Heritage Month.

"As one who has been part of JAHM since its inception, we could not be happier that it is headquartered in Cincinnati. The Jewish contributions to our country have manifested themselves in diverse locations across the nation. Cincinnati, Ohio is a place in which significant portions of our history culminate. This includes the beginning of Manischewitz, the home of Reform Judaism and the contributions of Isaac Wise," noted Gary P. Zola, Executive Director of The Jacob Rader Marcus Center of The American Jewish Archives (AJA) at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR).

"We are proud to commence efforts for JAHM 2012. JAHM's objective increases tolerance and understanding and decreases anti-Semitism. We thank our major benefactors, including Empire Kosher Poultry Inc., Manischewitz and The Biography (BIO) Channel. JAHM is historically rich due to the high-level involvement of some of our nation's leading historians and their continued commitment," said JAHM national coordinator Jennifer Mooney, executive communications director for Northlich, a Cincinnati advertising agency.

JAHM 2012 is anticipated to be even more comprehensive in scope than previous years. A&E Networks' BIOChannel will feature profiles of well-known Jewish personalities. The five confirmed segments, airing 7/ 6c AM are:

-- May 1: Ben & Jerry. They both had a passion for food. In 1977 they took
a $5 correspondence course to learn about ice-cream making. From there,
Ben & Jerry's brand ice cream was born.
-- May 8: Jon Stewart. The New York native began his career as a stand-up
comic, but transitioned into television as the hosts of MTV's first ever
talk show. Stewart began hosting The Daily Show, which has become an
icon for young people worldwide.
-- May 15: Dustin Hoffman. Clips from The Graduate, Midnight Cowboy, Rain
Man and other classics, plus an early 20th Century Fox screen test,
highlight this portrait of screen legend Dustin Hoffman.
-- May 22: Billy Crystal. An in-depth look at the comic's life, from his
childhood in New York as the son of a jazz concert promoter to his
career on the comedy club circuit, which eventually led to a part in the
small-screen hit Soap. Watch as Crystal follows his dreams to a role on
Saturday Night Live and a series of memorable films.
-- May 29: Albert Einstein. Learn more about the man behind the theories:
from his early years as a passionate young physicist to his move to the
United States. This program covers Einstein's key theories and explores
his work for international peace in his later years.
"We are excited to partner with JAHM for the third year in a row," said Libby O'Connell, senior vice president and chief historian at A&E Networks. "BIO's objective is to inform and engage viewers by giving them an insider's looks at the lives of exceptional people. We are pleased to expand this concept by educating teachers and students across America about the contributions of Jewish Americans."

BIO Classroom will air the JAHM profiles every Tuesday morning at 7/6c during the month of May in schools across the country. Additionally, BIO will support JAHM with cross-promotion between the organizations' websites.

JAHM is seeking additional corporate and foundation support to ensure the longevity of its mission. JAHM 2012 plans include increased educational outreach and resources; a PSA and media campaign; a national speakers' bureau; a traveling exhibition of Jewish American history; a national writing contest for middle-school students; expansion of the JAHM website (www.jahm.us) and a national infrastructure for JAHM, including point persons in each state.

The JAHM Advisory Committee consists of leaders from major national organizations whose mission is the preservation of Jewish American history: the American Jewish Archives, the American Jewish Historical Society, Jewish Women's Archive, the National Museum of American Jewish History, the Council of American Jewish Museums, the Jewish Historical Society of Washington, D. C., and the Jewish Museum of Florida. The advisory committee also includes representatives from Manischewitz and Empire Kosher.

Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) is a national month of recognition of the more than 350-year history of Jewish contributions to American culture, celebrated in May. JAHM acknowledges the achievements of Jewish Americans in fields ranging from sports and arts and entertainment to medicine, business, science, government and military service.
