Gala set for October 9 in the Majestic Ballroom at the St. Louis Renaissance Grand Hotel

ST. LOUIS, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced today that actress and Missouri native Ellie Kemper from NBC's hit show "The Office" will host the 34th Annual Emmy® Awards Gala. For the second year in a row, the Gala will be held in the Majestic Ballroom of the St. Louis Renaissance Grand Hotel.

Kemper stars as Erin Hannon, Dunder Mifflin's receptionist on "The Office." Ellie is a 1998 graduate of John Burroughs High School in St. Louis and a 2002 graduate of Princeton University. She has appeared on multiple national TV shows including The "Tonight Show," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Colbert Report," and is a contributor to the national satirical newspaper The Onion, as well as The Huffington Post.

"We are thrilled to have an actress of Ellie's star power to host the 34th Emmy® Awards Gala," said NATAS Mid-America Chapter President and KETC Senior Producer Jim Kirchherr. "She will bring a Hollywood flair to the Emmy® Awards this fall."

"I am so honored to be hosting the 2010 Mid-America Emmy® Awards in my hometown of St. Louis," said Kemper. "Conway School, Ladue Junior High, and Burroughs provided me with invaluable opportunities to perform and to write. And Ted Drewes provided me with really good frozen custard. I am very lucky to have grown up here."

The 2010 Mid-America Emmy® Awards will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. in the Majestic Ballroom of the St. Louis Renaissance Grand. The black-tie affair is open to the public. A limited number of tickets for the gala are now on sale for $125 and include dinner. They are available by calling (314) 533-2993.
